Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Webcenter Whiteboard with Redstone Content Solutions. My name is Michael Lawrence and I'll be your host for today's video. Our topic today's is Webcenter Sites- Social, Local and Responsive. We're going to go over the benefits of Webcenter Sites and how it meets the demand of the mobile customer of 2016 by being social, local and responsive and what each of those means. The first thing I'm going to cover is mobile search and how in 2016 it is going to over pass desktop searches for the first time ever.

What this means is people are no longer getting up from their couches and going over to the computer to conduct searches. They're probably watching TV, a commercial comes on, they pull out their phone, they search on a product they just saw that they might want to buy, they get on Facebook, they chat with their friends, they look up information maybe it was a word, an event or something they're not entirely sure about or want to learn about and then as soon as the commercial is over they go back to watching their TV. So people are a lot less likely to do desktop searches. This also takes place outside of their home. For example, at stores, movies, bars with friends, looking up the location of a great food place while you're out driving around. So mobile search is responsive.

We'll get to why mobile search is affected by responsive design here shortly. Smartphones are also 81% of the market now. So almost the entire cell phone market user base are now cell phones that have smart technology. That means they can search the web, they have smart apps so content is readily available at their fingertips at all times and mobile commerce. So I previously mentioned when we were going over number one that people will do research on products they see during commercials, they'll look things up on their phone while they're at the store. And what's happening is people are looking things up during commercials or at the store, finding it cheaper online and purchasing it from their phone. And then also you get a lot of people...part of this is tablet traffic, so people not having desktop computers at their house anymore are using a tablet as their computer.

Mobile commerce is becoming huge. Twenty-three billion is the estimate that will reach here in 2016. So we're going to talk a little bit more on this in the next part of this video on how, what is in the sites through social, local and responsive functionality can help meet the demand of the 2016 mobile customer and address these issues. So number one, local content. Webcenter Sites is multilingual so you can integrate with a variety of translation tools such as Google Translate and Lingo tech. So you're delivering content to people in their native tongue, you can target that via the web browser, IP address, using their IP address to find their country. Then, yes, also people can, depending on their browser or their search engine like Google.fr would result in French results, for example.

Also geo-targeted content as people are searching mobile and out on the move using their geolocation services to provide content that is local and relevant and near them, food near me, attractions near me. And that brings us to the next aspect is local content is 94% of searches on mobile devices are for local content. People are using mobile device to find things near them that are relevant to them. Next we are going to talk about social. Social media is bigger than ever now and it does have...we're going...and social media does influence the search engines. That's one reason why it's important to be mobile because most of the social media today is accessed via mobile.

Seventy-four percent of Facebook users access the mobile site, not the desktop site. Also it leads to shares, reviews and recommendations of your website and your content in your business to other users. So word of mouth has now taken a digital tone and digital avenue stream to communicate that to fellow friends, families, and other purchasers. And lastly responsive design. Webcenter Sites ability to be responsive has a lot of benefits. Number one, Google has stressed that this is their number one go to for web design. It's their recommended for multiple reasons. Number one, brand consistency. Your website looks the same on desktop, mobile, tablet, so when people are accessing your site multiple times from different entry points it looks the same, it feels the same and they know they are in the right place.

It also provides a single URL. So previously a few years back and still somewhat today you'd see like M. your domain name and sub domain for M stood for mobile. So get rid of that and just have that single base URL to avoid confusion and then also that avoids any duplicate crawling up a website or duplicate, I'm blanking on the word but I'll come back to that one, indexing, there it is. Single navigation is also in content structures great because now you know sometimes mobile sites in the past when they use the M sub domain had limited content, different navigation structure but when you're using a responsive design it looks the same as on the same URL.

It provides full content access so it's not a limited amount of data and you pretty much navigate through the site hierarchy the same way. So really just a few tips and tricks and facts about Webcenter Sites and how the social, local, and responsive feature functionality set that comes Webcenter Sites can help you target this mobile customer of 2016. And it should say 2016 and on because mobile is the future. Smart watches, I have Sirius tablet over here and, you know, I got a smartphone in my pocket. I'm not the only one like that. We're really looking at the most connected user group and customer base we've ever seen before. So it's important that we're giving them content in the manner in which they can consume it. So think about it, maybe re-watched the video, do some reading up on what's Webcenter Sites and when you're ready to use this tool to target the mobile customer come to Redstone because Redstone Content Solutions we deliver, we look forward to hearing from you, thank you and have a great day.
